Bodegas Miguel Torres SA, the 141-year Catalan mega bodega established at Vilafranca del Penedès near Barcelona, was founded in 1870 by Jaime Torres.

Torres is the family winery that is one of the most innovative, quality-oriented and certainly the largest winery in Spain. The Torres family owns more than 2,200 acres of vineyards in Penedès, as well as properties in Chile (Migel Torres Jr.) and California (Marimar Torres in Russian River). Wines from the Torres family are available in over 140 countries and can be found on wine lists of top restaurants and hotels worldwide.

The history of the Torres Winery

Its 70-year old President and CEO of the company, Miguel A. Torres is representing the 4th generation of the Torres family company and is considered to be Europe`s best wine visionaries.

He is the author of several books including “Vineyards and Wines”, “Spanish Wine, an Uncertain Future”.

In 2002 Miguel A. Torres was named "Man of the Year" by the British Decanter magazine.
In 2011, the Drink Business Green Awards honoured him with the “Lifetime Achievement Award” in recognition of his contribution to the promotion of eco-friendly wine-making practices.

Good wine comes from good grapes, it's as simple as that. The Bodegas Torres made significant contributions to the development of enology not only in Spain. Their vineyards are mostly organic, using no chemicals or insecticides. They are investing in renewable energies like solar panels and wind parks, they carry out research on exploitation of vineyard and forest biomass.

The Bodegas Torres operate numerous research programmes aimed at recovering grape varieties that have been lost over the years.
