Montserrat and Cava Tour

Visit the Montserrat Mountain and taste the Catalan cava

The Montserrat and Cava Tour from Barcelona combines a visit to the beautiful Montserrat mountain one hour's drive from Barcelona and Caves Codorníu, one of Spain's oldest wineries.

Over the years Montserrat, has been the goal not only for thousands of pilgrims, but also for architects like Antoni Gaudí and Jean Nouvel, who have been inspired by the unique forms of the rocks and by the beautiful natural park on the mountain.

On a shiny day you will be able to see Barcelona from the top of the Mountain, and furthermost, on Montserrat you will be able to visit the incredible monastery. The monastery was built over centuries but - according to legend - dates back to 880 BC when the Black Madonna ("la moreneta" as locals call her) was found. The Black Madonna is still today visited by many thousands of pilgrims. On some days, you will be able to hear the boys' choir sing - the choir is the oldest of its kind in the world.

Codorníu is one of Spain's best producers of sparkling wine and a charming winery located just south of Montserrat. The spectacular cellars and houses around it was designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch - one of Antoni Gaudís most important competitor. On the tour you will be able to taste the cava, see the production and take a ride through the wine cellars in a mini train.
